Renewables
East has been established to champion the growth of renewable energy
across the East of England (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire,
Bedfordshire Essex) bringing forward private and public partnerships to
collectively embrace these opportunities this will enable the East of
England to address the rising challenges of climate change, increasing
insecurity of fuel supply and rising energy costs.
BioREGen
project
Renewables East has been awarded funding of £680,000 from EEDA under the
Business Resource Efficiency and Waste (BREW) Programme for the project
BioREGen. The project aims to establish a coherent programme to identify and
evaluate opportunities to recover resource value as renewable energy and to
provide appropriate support to regional businesses to develop and invest in
these opportunities.
The project BioREGen
provides support for the deployment of technologies recovering energy from
wood and organic residues generating heat and power via:
- Anaerobic
Digestion
- Gasification
- Combustion
BioREGen
will fund consultancy to address critical strategic issues and barriers to
development, supporting projects from inception to delivery. Site specific
support will be provided from experts with technical and commercial skills
in:
- Technology
choice
- Planning
and regulatory issues
- Power
purchase agreements and grid connections
- Risk and
return
