Trans-feruloylnoradrenaline: a new potent natural antioxidant

Spanish researchers have discovered a new and powerful antioxidant from tomato leaves. The phenolic compound trans-feruloylnoradrenaline is synthesized by tomato plants as a response to biotic stress. The activity of this is much stronger than that of Resveratrol, Vitamin E or Vitamin C. Researchers have also synthesised the compound in the laboratory. They are seeking patent licensing and marketing agreements with companies or research centres for its inclusion as ingredient in other products.
