HELIX
- Helping Enterprises Lever Business Excellence
What is
HELIX?
The East of
England Development Agency (EEDA) wishes to raise the competitiveness of the
agrifood sector in the region. It has therefore awarded funding to
several business support organisations to achieve this, including East of
England International (EEI).
EEI
has developed the HELIX programme with the aim of improving the
international competitiveness of enterprises in the food sector through
facilitating access to new technology and know how.
What
are the objectives?
The primary
objectives of the HELIX programme are:
- assist
East Of England Small to Medium Sized Enterprises in the agrifood sector

- stimulate
demand for research and development and knowledge transfer within the
sector
- promote
the development of higher level skills to support knowledge transfer
from centres of excellence relevant to this sector
- develop
tools and processes from the learning experiences of the companies
involved that can be used for future benefit.
Who
is it aimed at?
EEI has
designed a two year project that will meet these objectives and will be
targeted at SMEs in the agrifood sector that:
- have
excellent market opportunities with a potentially world class product or
service
- could
improve competitiveness by increasing spend on R & D

interested to work with EEI which delivers UKTI services in the East of
England
What
is in the programme?
There are 4
key strands:
- Strategy
Development
- Participants
in the programme will be invited to participate in a series of 3
interactive workshops facilitated by an expert in strategy
development. They will be assisted in developing their own
international business plan. Actions arising from the planning process
will then be matched to training, funding or access to specialist
advice from the UKTI network.
- Mentoring
- Some
action plans will flag a need for the business for external support
from a business mentor. Participating enterprises will be matched to
mentors from the network to help them achieve their goals.
- Training
- Training
requirements defined in the action plan will be supported wherever
possible with funding from the project programme.
- International
Activity
- Participants
may require to access information or contacts in international
markets. Some funding will be available to support this.
What
are the benefits to my business?

decisions for the medium to long term

businesses growth
