To be a successful exporter it is essential to plan your entry into the
market. Marketing research is crucial in the development of a market entry
strategy and professional advice and financial support is available.
As well as providing information and other resources about exporting on
its website, Trade Partners UK provides financial support to companies to
undertake export marketing research through the Export Marketing Research
service. This service is managed by the British Chambers of Commerce.
Financial subsidies are available of up to 50% towards the cost of
conducting marketing research either in-house or through the use of
consultants.
The subsidy will be for businesses wishing to research specific overseas
markets for their own products or services, which must be mainly of UK
origin, exportable from the UK and have a proven track record.
British companies, or subsidiary companies within a large group, with
less than 500 employees are eligible.
It is unlikely that companies which have been formed for less than two
years or employ fewer than five people will have sufficient resources to
benefit from the support offered.
An export communications review provides companies with impartial and
objective advice about addressing language and cultural barriers when trading
with overseas markets.
Depending upon the size of the company and the extent of its product range
and export activity, a review may involve up to 3 visits by the consultant.
Eligible companies (those with fewer than 500 employees; are UK based and
have been trading for a minimum of two years; currently export or have plans in
place to start exporting; and export or plan to export goods or services that
are mainly of UK origin) are eligible for a maximum to £750 subsidy towards the
cost of consultancy.
