Grants are available towards the installation of solar electricity (photovoltaic) equipment. Between 40% and 60% on total installation costs may be covered.

For commercial organisations up to 40% 'fixed' grant funding for large-scale applications (5kWp - 100kWp). Applications are made on a quarterly competitive call basis.

Businesses can access a range of free Envirowise Programme services aimed at helping them to make more effective use of raw materials and to save money by avoiding waste. The services include:

The Environment and Energy Helpline (0800 588 794) offers an hour of free advice and on-site consultancy from Envirowise experts.

FastTrack Visits are also on offer. These are free, on-site waste reviews with Envirowise consultants to help identify and realise savings quickly. Only companies with less than 250 employees qualify for a Fast Track visit.

Action Energy

Action Energy provides a range of products and services for business and public sector organisations to help reduce energy consumption.

Services include:

- Free telephone advice through the Action Energy helpline
(0800 585 794) about what businesses can do to save money on energy.

- Free online advice providing a range of helpful information about energy efficiency specifically tailored to different types of business.

- Free on-site energy surveys conducted by experienced energy consultants to help you identify areas where energy savings can be made.

- Free publications about energy efficiency available for downloading or ordering online

- Action Energy loans – Interest-free loans of between £5,000 and £50,000 for smaller companies to support investment in energy-saving equipment.

- The Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme enabling businesses to claim 100% first year capital allowances on investments in energy-saving technologies and products.

Waste and Resource Action Programme

WRAP offers a business development service to assist businesses who sell, buy, process or collect recycled glass, paper, plastic, and wood to attract finance and investment.

The service is free and the advice tailored to the individual business.

Research and development and capital investment funding from WRAP is available on a periodic basis. Information on funding rounds can found on the programme's website.

The website also provides advice and guidance on buying, collecting, selling and processing recycled products and materials.

Energy Efficiency Advice Centre

The Anglia West EEAC, based in Peterborough, will give you free advice on how to be more efficient with energy and can give you information on what grant aid is available for energy efficiency measures.
