City and Guilds and Food and Drink Qualifications have launched the new operational skills pathway for the new N/SVQ Level 2 in Food Manufacture. This qualification is now available as part of the Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework and is designed for individuals who are working in food manufacturing on a variety of processes. The qualification includes food safety and health and safety, as well as a range of units that cover many generic manufacturing processes.

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) has recently been approved by OfQual as an awarding body for NVQs in Food Manufacture in England. They can offer the qualifications at levels 1, 2 and 3, this is in addition to a range of SVQs and other food and drink related qualifications offered in Scotland.

These qualifications, which can form part of the Apprenticeship Framework in England, have the following qualification numbers:
Food Manufacture level 1: 500/5033/3
Food Manufacture level 2: 500/5006/0
Food Manufacture level 3: 500/5032/1
