Why Farming Matters in the Fens

A major new report from the NFU highlights the importance of farming to the fens.

‘Why Farming Matters in the Fens’ sets out the contribution that farmers and growers make to the economy, the food and drink sector, the environment, tourism and the community within this unique landscape.

The Fens contains around half of all the most productive farmland in England. Farms in the Fens support 27,000 full and part-time jobs and more than two thirds of land is managed under environmental stewardship schemes.
