Blight Watch 2003 launched

Potatocrop.com will be once again be providing growers and advisors with its Blight Watch service to those registered on the www.potatocrop.com website.

Over 500 UK growers used the Blight Watch service in 2002 to monitor blight incidence in their local area and to use the email and SMS blight alert service

The BlightWatch service is free. It allows producers to receive up to date and localised information about blight risk, based on Smith periods. Producers can choose up to ten different chosen locations or postcodes.   All the data is provided by the MET Office and ADAS. Producers can choose to be warned of Smith periods in their area by email and /or by SMS text message on their mobile phones.

BlightWatch provides a historical record of Smith periods in chosen localities. BlightWatch service includes a weekly update on the potato blight situation across England & Wales. It is supplemented by Agronomy Notes and Research Reports also produced by ADAS.

The new service runs through to September.   All you have to do is to go onto the BlightWatch area of the www.potatocrop.com site and follow the easy instructions.
