BPC warns of suspected potato bligt outbreak in Norfolk

A suspected case of potato blight in Norfolk has put the county’s potato crops in immediate danger of attack from the disease.

The blight infection was identified by a British Potato Council ‘blight scout’ and the suspected outbreak centres around Fakenham. Potato growers in the immediate area should now step up their monitoring and blight control programmes, warn the BPC.

Diseased plants have been sent for laboratory analysis and the result will be immediately highlighted on the BPC’s blight mapping website (www.potato.org.uk/blight).

For regular potato blight updates potato growers can visit the BPC’s website www.potato.org.uk/blight
